You Can See Where Any Cruise Ship Is (LIVE and in 3D – for Free) Here’s How!

Have you ever wondered where the ship you enjoyed that fantastic cruise on last summer is now? Well, now it is easy to find out!

I am the first to admit, I am a bit of a cruise ship nerd, I love all the facts and figures, and tracking where my favourite ships are in the world.

It’s hardly surprising. I have a background in maths and data development, so facts and figures are of great interest to me.

Now, thanks to The Cruise Globe you can easily track your favourite ships live, in 3D, for free.

The Cruise Globe is facinating, but i warn you, also very addictive!

It is completely free, though, so it’s a great way to spend a little bit of time.

What Does The Cruise Globe Do?

The Cruise Globe tracks cruise ships by using AIS ship tracking technology, meaning that what you see is the real route. If you missed any ports or had any detours, they’ll all show up.

I often find that the cruise lines advertised itinerary maps look nothing like the reality. Take the below for example! The left is the image on the cruise lines website, the right is where we really went.

#1. Log All Your Past Cruises

The Cruise Globe is a free tool that allows you to log every cruise you have ever taken.

It is easy to forget which ports you have visited, and which ship you were on, particularly if you are a regular cruiser.

By using The Cruise Globe, you can look back on your cruising history with total accuracy and find out where you were, when.

You can explore and share your cruise statistics with friends and family – every nautical mile, every port you have visited.

#2. See Live Cruise Ship Tracking In 3D

Find out where your favourite ship is in the world, right now!

You can zoom in and zoom out, and see your ship in a perfect satellite view.

#3. Re-live Your Cruise In 3D

With the “Cruise Replay” feature, you can “fly through” your exact cruise route, every port, every detour, every unplanned medical emergency port stop…

Have a look at the MSC Virtuosa’s voyage in the short video below. It clearly had time to kill!

The Cruise Globe is totally unique. It is the ultimate visual logbook for every cruise passenger – past, present and future. A new place to track, quantify, and share your entire cruise history with total accuracy.

The Cruise Globe

Who Is It For?

It’s for everyone! Cruise fans, upcoming cruisers, armchair travellers, past passengers, and anybody who has an interest in cruise ships. And the best part? It is completely free to use.

Anthem of the Seas in Norway.

I took my young nieces on a memorable cruise to the Norwegian fjords on board Anthem of the Seas.

Although the scenery was stunning and the weather was good, I think they were more interested in the rollerblading, laser quest, bumper cars and the unlimited soda and pizza onboard!

This is the route we took, as shown on The Cruise Globe

I took my nieces on an amazing trip to Norway on Anthem of the Seas. They loved it!

How Does It Work?

The Cruise Globe is free and easy to use.

All ships are tracked in real time using AIS data. The cruise globe uses that date to create an interactive map, where you can zoom in, spin, and click around to explore the surrounding area.

You can see your favourite ships live location – whether she is sailing, or docked.

You can see where they are going next, and where they have been.

Why Would You Want to Track a Ship?

There are lots of reasons you might want to track a ship:

  • You can check the ship you’re about to sail on is on its way.
  • You can follow a ship you’ve just disembarked along with its onward journey, to find out where it is going next.
  • To see where your favourite ship is in the world.
  • To watch ship movements in interesting regions, like the Panama Canal or Antarctica.

Have a look at this video of my recent Carnival cruise. At around eight minutes in, I use The Cruise Globe to bring my journey to life:

Why It’s Different From Other Ship Trackers

The Cruise Globe is specifically for cruise ships, not mixed with cargo ships or fishing vessels. It is easy to see where cruise ships are located around the world.

The 3D experience hasn’t ever been available anywhere else before and we wanted to bring it to life, it really feels immersive. You really get a sense of where your ship has been and where it is going.

The Cruise Globe is also completely free to use and ad free.

Before You Go

Only 1% of the ships sailing are cruise ships. That’s why the Cruise Globe is such a useful tool, it only shows cruise ships. Find out what sort of ships the other 99% are here:
