Before we get into all the cruisey things… let me tell you a bit about myself and how I got here. 🥳✌🏼
2005 – My First Cruise – I Was Hooked!
I was 11 when my gran took me on my first cruise. Little did she know how it would shape my life for years to come. 😂❤️
It was onboard the Norwegian Spirit and we visited Alaska. I had so much fun in the kids clubs and I also loved being able to decide what and where I wanted to eat. My parents might decide to have dinner in the main dining room and I could have pizza from the buffet, it was great! 🚢😇
My parents say that I ‘nagged’ them after that to take me on another cruise and they did when I was 13 and 15. These cruises were all with Norwegian Cruise Line. 😎🌍
2016 – I Started This Website
Because I’d been cruising since I was a child, I just thought that cruising was fun, it never crossed my mind that anybody else would think otherwise. It wasn’t until I started working full time and started to speak to my friends and colleagues about cruising that I realised that most people didn’t know what I knew about cruising. 😂❤️
I don’t know what motivated me back then, but I’m very grateful to past me who started my website and spent hours before and after work every day writing, at the time for only a very small handful of readers. 🫢📱
2021 – A Pandemic Life Change!
In 2021, after 6 years of building up my site and YouTube channel, I made the leap and left my steady 9-5 office job in Insurance. It was nerve-wracking for sure, but I never regretted it for a second. 🥳❤️
It was very strange building a business when the industry was closed down completely for the covid pandemic, but I had faith that cruising would come back bigger than ever, and it did! 🚢💻
Not having to ask a boss for time off meant that I could travel a lot more and could work from anywhere. I worked by myself like this for around 3 years. ✈️🌍
We’ve Raised Over $300k for Charity (So Far!)
As my channel and website grew, I realised that a lot of people were listening to me (still not used to that) and I decided that I’d like to do something more than just share cruise tips. 😂❤️
I’m very proud of the money that our community has raised through my charity head shaves (yep two), charity walks and sales of our cat mascot Captain Hudson. 😎🇿🇦
I was lucky enough to go to Sierra Leone to stay on the floating hospital we’d raised money for, and it was life-changing. You can check out the video about that here. 🤯🥰
2024 – Co-Founding The Cruise Maps
By the time I met my friends Will and Matt in 2024, I’d been building up my business alone for a little over 6 years. I knew that there was so much more that I wanted to do in the cruise space and it became immediately obvious to me that they were the people that I wanted to build a business with. ☺️🥳
The Cruise Maps has grown a lot since then and you can check out our website here. Having ‘colleagues’ for the first time in years who are as excited as me is something I appreciate a lot. 🧍🏼♂️🧍🏼♂️
2025 – Launching The Cruise Globe
In 2025 we launched a free website called The Cruise Globe and I am SO proud of it. I always felt as though the cruise industry was missing out on good tech, not anymore!! 😎🛳️
