I Was Interviewed on Cruise Director TV! Here’s What Happened (Unexpected)

Note: This post is sponsored by Marella Cruises. All thoughts and opinions are my own based on my 8+ Cruises with Marella. My cruises with Marella were not press trips and I paid full price for them.

On my last cruise, I did something I’ve never done before – it was really exciting and unexpected!

I was onboard Marella Voyager with Matt, my friend and colleague. This was Matt’s first Marella cruise, and he had a great time.

Me and Matt run a company called The Cruise Maps, and through that, we were able to meet the Cruise Director Scott.

Much to my surprise, Scott invited us to appear on Cruise Director TV! I had seen Cruise Director TV on my past Marella cruises, but never imagined I’d be on the show.

This is a daily show, filmed onboard, that keeps passengers up to date on everything going on around the ship. It features event highlights, show reminders, deck parties, and activity shout-outs

We met at Coffee Port, the coffee house on onboard. This venue serves Lavazza coffee, teas, speciality hot chocolates, and fresh pastries/chocolates – and the most wonderful cookies!

It is a venue I am very familiar with and visit quite often when I am sailing with Marella.

(If you have the Marella Premium All-Inclusive drinks package, drinks at Coffee Port are free. If you have not upgraded to the Premium All-Inclusive package, they come at an extra charge.)

Cookies, Marella Explorer 2
You will often find me in Coffee Port. I love the giant cookies they serve in there…

Scott and Assistant Cruise Director Chloe sat and chatted to us for a while, and they recorded what we said. We talked about The Cruise Maps and about my YouTube Channel.

Scott asked me what makes Marella different from other cruise lines and to talk a little bit about our experience onboard so far.

I said that the process with the flights, transfers and check-in had been seamless and that compared to other cruise lines, I always notice just how friendly and happy the crew on Marella seem.

Marella do a few things differently, like the housekeeping teams work together in groups, instead of alone, and I think choices like this do make a big difference.

Our housekeeping team were great and they’d often leave us towel animals on the bed. My favourite part was the bedtime chocolates they’d leave on the pillow.

This particular cruise had an itinerary change due to bad weather, so it didn’t follow the predicted route. It was handled very well by Marella, and for us it was really interesting to see how our predicted route deviated from the real route.

Instead of sailing through rocky seas, we had an overnight in Madeira and an extra sea day, which was definitely the right decision, and I’m glad Marella made it.

Lots of other guests onboard had already stopped to speak to me, as they recognised me from my YouTube Channel. That was really lovely, everyone I met was so kind and friendly.

The recording was then edited into a show and shown on all the cabin TVs the next morning.

I was very nervous about being interviewed. I really do hate public speaking, but Scott and Chloe soon put us at ease. Everything turned out all right in the end!

Cruise Director TV is especially handy for new cruisers who might take a little longer to get used to the ship’s routines.

Scott and Chloe are both fantastic, friendly faces around the ship who are knowledgeable about all kinds of things.

Typically, the Cruise Director TV show includes event highlights, show reminders, deck parties, and activity shout-outs, so if you watch it, you won’t miss anything going on onboard.

I find it’s great to have on in the background when I am getting ready to go out. I often hear about things I might have missed otherwise.

All content is pre-recorded onboard and refreshed regularly during the cruise. I was pleased about that, as if I had made a mess of things, it could be edited out. Nothing like my normal YouTube livestreams…

You’ll usually find the Cruise Directors’ show in the interactive TV menu on your cabin’s TV.

Thank you so much to Marella, Scott and Chloe for this opportunity! We had a great time onboard, and it was so much fun for me to get to show a friend why Marella is one of my personal favourite cruise lines.
