Azamara Ocean View Cabins – Real Opinions and Review

If you are taking a cruise with Azamara you may be wondering if an Oceanview cabin is a good choice. In this article, I will review the oceanview cabin 4056 onboard Azamara Pursuit.

Azamara has four cruise ships – Azamara Quest, Azamara Journey, Azamara Pursuit and Azamara Onward.

The four Azamara cruise ships and their cabins are very very similar in style and design.

The layouts are virtually identical although cabin configurations may vary very slightly between the ships.

Azamara ships were built between 1999 and 2001. All have had previous lives with other cruise lines.

Their cruise ships are small compared to many of the mainstream cruise lines.

The ships accommodate around 680 to 700 guests.

Although the ships don’t have Ropes courses, Go Kart tracks or Water Slides you might find on larger newer ships, their smaller size gives the cruise a more intimate feel – and the food served is wonderful.

Azamara ships don’t have purpose-built theatres. The shows are all put on in the main Cabaret Lounges.

Azamara sail to ports the larger ships can’t get to, dock far more centrally than most ships, and lay on free shuttle buses if the ship is not centrally docked.

We cruised on Azamara Onward in 2022 – and my parents liked it so much that they booked to sail on Azamara Pursuit in 2023.

This review is based on their thoughts on their cabin.

Ocean View Cabin – 4056 Azamara Pursuit

All cabins have:

  • A comfortable double bed that can be made into two twins
  • A sofa
  • A table
  • A desk area and a chair.
  • Mini Fridge stocked with free soft drinks of your choice
  • Hairdryer
  • A Safe
  • Bedside tables
  • A TV
  • Bathrobes and slippers
  • Fresh flowers
  • Large window with ocean views

The Ocean View Window

The window was a good size and gave wonderful views of the ocean.

It was nice to be able to sit in bed and have an uninterrupted view. When you are in a balcony cabin, there are often patio doors, chairs, tables and a glass balcony panel between you and the sea.

They hadn’t appreciated how good the views would be.

The Bathroom Was Smallest We’ve Ever Had at Sea

The bathrooms in all Azamara ships seem to be about as small as they could possibly get away with!

The bathroom design felt modern, despite the ship being over twenty years old.

There were narrow shelves on the wall, but very little space elsewhere to put your washbag.

It was fine for two average-sized people – but if you are a larger or taller person it might be a struggle.

Very nice toiletries are provided. They do take up precious shelving space though, leaving you less room for your own “bits and bobs”.

Because of the position of the toilet, when you were sat there you would often have a face full of damp towels that were hanging on the rack.

The shower worked well but was smallish – and had a very clingy shower curtain!

Even though the bathroom was small it was always spotlessly clean and we were very well looked after by our cabin steward.

The shower was about as wide as three standard toothpaste tubes – or 3 Captain Hudsons!

To find out about inside cabins on Azamara, watch this video next. The design of the cabin is very similar – without the window of course:

The Cabin Location

The cabin was number 4056, which was very close to the Reception desk and Medical centre.

Worries that the cabin might be noisy in this location were completely unfounded.

The Reception never seemed busy, and we never heard any noise from outside the cabin.

The cabin itself was warm and cosy, the air conditioning worked well when needed. It was a really comfortable room.

The huge advantage of a ship of this size is you never have to climb too many stairs. The deck nine pool deck and the deck ten buffet was never too far away.

Another advantage of this room was the coffee bar was only up one flight of stairs on deck five – and the restaurant was on deck five too.

As there were no tea and coffee-making facilities you could easily nip up and get some takeaway coffee to enjoy in your cabin in the mornings.

What They Liked About The Ocean View Cabin 4056

  • They comfortable best with high-quality bed linens
  • Very quiet
  • Free soft drinks in the Mini Bar
  • The TV had “Screen Mirroring.” You could cast downloaded programs from your phone and watch them on the TV
  • Uninterrupted sea views

What They Didn’t Like…

  • The cramped bathroom
  • No tea and coffee-making facilities
  • The TV wasn’t interactive, and you couldn’t use it to check your onboard account. The only way to do that was to go to reception
  • There is no onboard App to check your account or find out what is going on around the ship. You have to rely on the paper daily schedule

Would They Choose This Cabin Again?

Yes. This cabin had everything they needed, was in a quiet location and was very comfortable. Tea and Coffee making facilities were the thing they missed – but normally only British cruise lines and some luxury cruise lines provide them.
