Blimey, I Won’t Forget This Week! – Emma Cruises Weekly Newsletter

I’ve spent the last week onboard Star Clipper, a tiny little ship with sails. To say it was memorable is a massive understatement, for both good and bad reasons. 😂❤️

The first three days were beautifully calm, I enjoyed good food, met my fellow passengers and even climbed the mast to the crow’s nest! ⛵️👏🏼

I really enjoyed being on a ship that was so different. Putting up the sails to set sail was so much fun and it felt like stepping back in time. 🕰️😎

That was until the weather got rough…

I am somebody who is quite motion sick generally but on 98% of cruises I’m totally fine. I do feel a bit rough on occasion if we hit a storm, like on my January transatlantic or when I went into the Arctic Circle in March… but apart from that, I’m fine. Normally I can just sleep it off, or take seasickness medicine. 🤣🤭

This cruise was totally different and no medicine was a match for the days of rough movement. Walking was pretty much impossible. We had weather so bad that 40% of the crew were sick, including the captain who actually fell out of bed. I didn’t fall out of bed but only because I slept on the floor. I haven’t been ill like that for YEARS, possibly decades. 😅🛳️

Looking at the ship in the picture below, it’s hardly a surprise though. I was onboard a tiny sailing ship, cruising in November, on a repositioning cruise (Athens to Malta). We had no choice but to head straight through the bad weather. 👀🌍

We definitely got unlucky but I can’t wait to show you everything. There was so much more to this cruise than the bad weather. 🌦️🛳️

On the plus side, I’m hoping that I never get seasick on a regular cruise again. 😂😂

There won’t be a live stream today (6th) but hopefully my world will have stopped rocking by next week (13th). 🤞🏼😅

A Northern Lights cruise had been on my bucket list for years, and I eventually booked one with the British cruise line, Fred. Olsen.

I sailed from Newcastle in the North East of England, far away from my home near the south coast.

People often ask me, “Which is the best cruise line to pick if I want to go on a Mediterranean cruise?”

You have so many things to consider before you book.

Best Cruise Lines For Sailing The Mediterranean – Which Is Right for You?

When cruise lines describe themselves as “all-inclusive”, I’m always slightly suspicious.

There’s usually an asterisk somewhere.

I have grown to love oceanview cabins over the years, and seem to be booking them more and more often.

Often, the price of an upgrade to oceanview from an inside cabin isn’t much, so sometimes I decide to treat myself to a bit of daylight.

LIVESTREAM SCHEDULE:

  • Friday 13th November (5pm UK, 12pm Eastern)

Some people would be surprised to find out that I do sometimes suffer from seasickness.

If you also get seasick, you may want to take my advice and avoid these itineraries, at least in the winter months!

I definitely need to update this article to add in SAILING SHIPS! 😂😂
