I’m in Japan & Captain Hudson’s Almost Gone! – Emma Cruises Weekly Newsletter

Hey hey hey, I hope you are having a lovely day. I’m typing this from Osaka, JAPAN! Japan is my favourite cruise destination in the world, there’s no question, it’s so fantastic.

ad – I’m currently onboard the Norwegian Spirit which is a very special ship for me. She was the ship that started it all, the one I cruised on first when I was 11.

It is a dream come true to be back on board and see how she’s been updated. She was built in 1998, which is definitely on the older end for a mainstream cruise line ship, but I love how she’s been modernised.

I am going to have SO much to show and tell you, I can’t wait.

This week’s live stream is going to be at a bit of an odd time because I’m 9 hours ahead of the UK. Make sure you take note of it below!

Have you ever wondered where the most popular places to cruise are?

In this article, we look at where most cruise passengers choose to visit and find out what attracts them to these areas of the world.

Top 10 Must-See Cruise Destinations: Discover Where Everyone’s Cruising To in 2024!

I am lucky enough to have been cruising since I was 11. My first cruise was a “Fire and Ice” Norwegian cruise to Alaska and Hawaii way back in 2005. That is where my love of cruising began!

This photo is me standing on the ship I’m on right now, that’s so strange to think about.

If you are taking a cruise you may be wondering what there is to do when onboard. Cruise ship entertainment varies a lot by cruise line but some common types are found on many ships.

MONEY-SAVING CRUISE TIP OF THE WEEK:

Use a travel agent.

This one might seem obvious, but it’s so important to say. A travel agent shouldn’t ever cost more than booking directly (if they do, you have a bad agent there, RUN AWAY). There are often discounts, upgrades and freebies they can throw in.

For example, on this same cruise I’m on right now, 11 days in Asia on Norwegian Spirit, my agents can offer it next February from £1849 per person (including UK flights). Flights alone usually cost more than half that, so it’s SUCH a great deal. Travel agents have access to far more than us everyday folk. More about that deal here.

If you don’t already have a good agent, I’ve listed the ones I’ve used for the last 4/5 years on my website.

(The only exceptions here are Marella/TUI who are always cheaper to book direct because that’s just how they want it to be. And MSC right now because I have a discount code (EMMA10) that only works directly.)

In an average year, 20 million people take a cruise and tens of thousands of them book a trip that is over 90 days long.

These world cruises range up to almost a year in length, and even though I have been cruising since I was a child, I work onboard ships and I cruise multiple times a year, I don’t want to take a world cruise, for a few reasons.
