Recently, my friend Will from TrekTrendy sailed onboard Celebrity Apex, where he spent 72 hours experiencing one of the finest suites at sea.
This cruise was so interesting I just had to share this with you!
With exclusive amenities like a private hot tub, gourmet dining, and panoramic ocean views, this adventure offered an insider’s look at what $30,000 can provide on a luxury cruise.
Departing From Southampton
Will’s journey began at Southampton City Cruise Terminal, where boarding was easy and smooth – quite the feat for a ship welcoming nearly 3,000 passengers.
With his suite booking, Will enjoyed an expedited check-in and was personally escorted aboard the Celebrity Apex.
Apex, a ship in the Edge-class fleet, is both massive and thoughtfully designed for luxurious travel.
The Suite: Luxury At Sea
Once aboard, Will made his way to Deck 12 to explore his suite, which took up half the ship’s width and offered stunning views over the bow.
Inside his suite, he found a large living space complete with a dining area, entertainment lounge, private balcony with a hot tub.
His suite was equipped with a Peloton bike, a pantry with a drinks fridge stocked with all his favourites, and a butler to take care of requests (including popcorn for movie nights.)
In the guest wing, Will discovered a large marble bathroom, a walk-in wardrobe, and a secondary bedroom, all designed to make this feel less like a suite and more like a private residence.
Sailing Into The Sunset
As Celebrity Apex set sail, Will took in the view from his large balcony.
The balcony had a dining space, cabana, and hot tub, making it ideal for watching the English coastline fade away into the horizon.
Dinner that night was at Eden, a speciality restaurant with huge windows at the aft of the ship.
Will’s meal included beautifully prepared dishes like seared scallops and lobster casserole, paired with signature cocktails.
The evening wrapped up with a live show in the ship’s theatre, where the night’s performance took the audience through the history of rock music.
Day Two: Breakfast In the Suite & A Ship Tour
The next morning, Will enjoyed an in-suite breakfast with French toast, blueberry pancakes, and even steak and eggs.
He then explored Celebrity Apex’s public spaces, starting with the Grand Plaza’s spectacular Martini Bar.
On Deck 4, he checked out the designer boutiques and themed restaurants, each offering a distinct menu inspired by global cuisine.
For lunch, Will headed to “Raw on Five” – a sushi restaurant known for its impressive selection of sushi, sashimi, and hot dishes.
His picks? The salmon nigiri and Apex roll – fresh, beautifully presented, and a highlight of the day.
Behind-the-Scenes Tour
In the afternoon, Will took a behind-the-scenes tour of Celebrity Apex.
He started in the kitchen, where the head chef shared what it took to serve nearly 3,000 guests daily, and then moved through crew-only areas like the engine control room.
Here, engineers manage the ship’s five main engines. This was a reminder of the enormous effort going on behind the scenes to create his seamless guest experience.
Relaxation and Fine Dining
Given the rainy weather, Will used the thermal circuit spa, which is usually a $89-a-day perk but is complimentary for suite guests.
With heated tile loungers and a float room, the spa offered a peaceful escape before his evening meal.
That night, he had dinner at “Fine Cut” Steakhouse, where he enjoyed perfectly cooked premium cuts and a decadent chocolate sundae for dessert.
Discovering Rotterdam
Day three brought Will to Rotterdam, a walkable city with a rich history.
He set out to explore the town, stopping by riverside cafes and local landmarks.
Back on board, Will unwound with a soak in his balcony hot tub before setting sail for the next port.
Belgium – And Reflecting On The Cost
Will’s final stop was Bruges, Belgium, known for its charming cobblestone streets and medieval architecture.

After a morning of exploring, he returned to Celebrity Apex, where he reflected on his journey.
The experience, priced at nearly $34,000, was undoubtedly a splurge, but with a suite of this calibre, exclusive amenities, and personalised service, it was a wonderful way to experience this cruise
Celebrity Apex was the epitome of modern luxury – offering an escape that felt as comfortable and spacious as a high-end resort.
