Celebrity Silhouette Cabins – Honest Reviews and Cabins to Avoid

If you are considering a cruise on the Celebrity Silhouette, you may be wondering which cabin to book and which to avoid.

In this post, we will look at all cabin grades available onboard the Celebrity Silhouette, and I will share a review of the balcony cabin that I had onboard.

I recently stayed in a balcony cabin on the Celebrity Silhouette during a northern Europe cruise.

I’m usually more of an inside cabin cruiser, but the cost of the balcony cabin wasn’t much more, so I decided to treat myself.

What Cabins Are Available on The Celebrity Silhouette?

The Celebrity Silhouette has a range of interior, oceanview, balcony, and suite cabins available.

All cabins contain a private bathroom, hairdryer, and safe. The cabins onboard the Celebrity Silhouette range in size from 17 metres squared to 119 metres squared and can accommodate up to 5 guests.

Solo interiors are also available for passengers cruising alone.

Regardless of cabin category, all cabins include:

  • Large Wardrobe, Additional Shelves.
  • A Minimum of One or Two Beds.
  • Desk.
  • At Least One Chair/Sofa.
  • Safe (Free to Use).
  • Minibar (Cost For Items).

We will also look at cabins to avoid.

The Celebrity Silhouette was built for Celebrity in 2011. She has never sailed for any other cruise line.

The design of all cabins onboard the Celebrity Silhouette are very similar. The curved bed can be seen in all staterooms, apart from the solo cabins.

What Are Inside Cabins on a Cruise Ship?

An Inside or interior cabin is a cabin that is located on the inside of a cruise ship. These cabins don’t have windows or any outside space.

Inside cabins are usually the cheapest cabin grade available on a cruise ship

The main reason why cruisers book inside cabins is because of the cheap price, but some people also book them because they enjoy the darkness that you get from having no windows.

Check out the video below to show Celebrity Silhouette’s inside cabins:

If sharing a cabin with 2 or 3 people, it is likely that the 3rd and 4th guest will be sleeping on the sofa bed and on Pullman beds that pulls down from the ceiling.

It can be quite a squeeze to share a cabin with 2 or 3 other people but it is do-able.

The drop-down (or Pullman) beds are most commonly used for children, although they also accommodate adults. If you’re particularly tall, your feet may hang off the end, though!

I have shared a cabin with 3 other adults before, it isn’t ideal but for a short cruise it isn’t a problem.

How Big Are The Inside Cabins On Celebrity Silhouette?

The inside cabins on the Celebrity Silhouette start at 17 square meters.

This is very big for an inside cabin, as the average inside cabin is 15.7 meters squared. This may not sound like a huge difference, but some inside cabins are as small as 11 square meters.

Find out about the smallest Inside cabins I have stayed in onboard cruise ships here:

Celebrity do have cabins designed specifically for solo cruisers. They are all inside cabins.

Solo cruisers are often hit hard with “solo supplements” when they cruise. This means that a solo person may have to pay double the price of a person sharing with another passenger.

When a cruise line has solo cabins, this price can be cheaper (although still not as cheap as sharing a cabin with someone else).

Have a look at solo cabins onboard Celebrity Silhouette here:

Why Do Solo Cruisers Have To Pay A Solo Supplement?

When cruising solo cruisers will often have to pay a “solo supplement”.

This means they pay more to stay in the cabin alone than they would if they were sharing with another passenger.

This is not only to account for the lost revenue from not having another passenger in the cabin, but also losses in things like drink sales and casino spends.

When booking a solo cabin, guests are given one price. This is usually more expensive than an inside cabin shared between two but is often cheaper than a solo cruiser having an inside cabin alone.

Inside Solo Cabins – Design – Celebrity Silhouette

The design of the interior solo cabins is VERY similar to the standard inside cabins. The only difference is the slightly smaller size and the fact there is only one bed.

The bed is a large single.

The bathroom is exactly the same as that found in the standard inside cabins.

Oceanview Cabins – Celebrity Silhouette

An oceanview cabin is very similar to an inside cabin, but it also has a window. This could be a large picture window or a small porthole.

The windows in oceanview cabins cannot be opened, they just give you natural light.

I rarely choose to stay in outside/oceanview cabins but have on occasion.

If an oceanview cabin wasn’t much more expensive than an inside cabin, I may consider it. Generally speaking, I’d upgrade to a balcony if I had extra money to spare.

The oceanview cabins are almost identical to the balcony cabins in size and layout. The only difference being the window instead of a balcony.

What Are Obstructed View Oceanview/Balcony Cabins?

Some oceanview and balcony cabins may have what is known as an ‘obstructed view’. An obstructed view means that there is something in the way of the window or balcony.

This could be a small piece of machinery below the balcony or to one side – or it could mean that the cabins view is completely blocked by a lifeboat.

The only way to get an obstructed view cabin is to book one specifically. These cabins sometimes offer great value – and the obstruction may be very small.

An exception to this is if a guaranteed cabin is booked and the guest is upgraded.

A cruise line may place a guest who booked a ‘guaranteed’ inside cabin into an obstructed view oceanview. To learn more about obstructed views, including why you should consider one, check out this post:

The balcony cabin onboard the Celebrity Silhouette was one of the largest I’ve ever stayed in.

The separate area with sofa was a bonus as we would often order room service (included in the cruise fare) and sit here to eat.

There was LOTS of storage in this cabin and it generally felt very comfortable.

How Big Are The Balconies Onboard Celebrity Silhouette?

Based on my experience cruising in balcony cabins, I would say that the Celebrity Silhouettes were a standard size.

I’ve definitely been on smaller balconies – but I’ve been on larger too. There is more than enough space for multiple people to sit and enjoy a sail away.

If you are cruising with friends who are in the balcony cabin next to you, ask if your cabin steward to open the partitions between the two balconies. This will give you a huge balcony which is double the normal length.

My Balcony Cabin on The Celebrity Silhouette:

Below is the video review that I filmed onboard the Celebrity Silhouette.

During the video, I talk a little about the cruise in general and about what it is like to cruise with Celebrity.

Things I Loved About My Balcony Cabin:

  • The bed. It was big and very comfortable
  • The cabin had a LOT of storage space. A big wardrobe and multiple other drawers.
  • The sofa/desk area.

I have to admit I wasn’t a HUGE fan of the design.

There was definitely nothing wrong with it, but it did feel a little outdated, and I tend to prefer a more minimalistic look. That of course, is just personal preference.

The Celebrity Silhouette went through a big refit in 2020 and cabins were refurbished

The video below shows the new look and design of the cabins. The basic design has remained the same – such as the position of the sofa and bed – but the furnishings and colours have been updated.

Variations of Balcony Cabins

AquaClass Stateroom

An AquaClass stateroom is similar in size and design to a balcony cabin but also includes the following perks:

  • Access to the thermal suite (complimentary)
  • An exclusive restaurant called Blu

Savor an exclusive menu that features clean, crisp flavors and inventive cuisine complemented by an extensive list of sustainable, biodynamic wines. Pair all of that with personalized service, inviting surroundings, and natural light, and you have the fresh and bold experience of Blu.

Celebrity cruises
  • A complimentary fitness pass
  • Discounts on spa packages
  • Daily bottled water in the cabin
  • A yoga mat (for use on the cruise only)

There are a few little changes within the cabin itself (such as a cashmere mattress and pillow menu), but generally speaking, the AquaClass staterooms are more about having access to the spa areas and exclusive restaurants.

AquaClass staterooms are great for those who are health-conscious and enjoy healthy food and exercise when cruising.

Concierge Class Stateroom

A concierge class stateroom is a balcony stateroom which comes with a few additional perks, these include:

  • A concierge service
  • Priority check-in
  • Exclusive events (Welcome lunch, destination seminars, etc)

Suites – Celebrity Silhouette

This private restaurant – open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner – features a boldly elegant design as distinctive as its cuisine. Not only is the restaurant exclusive, but so are its menus.

Which Plug Sockets Are On The Celebrity Silhouette?

In each cabin onboard, the Celebrity Silhouette has at least two US plug sockets and one European plug socket. There are no USB sockets in the cabins.

Make sure you pack adapters! This is one of the most common things first-time cruisers tend to forget:

    Cruise Essentials.

Do The Cabins on The Celebrity Silhouette have Irons?

None of the cabins on the Celebrity Silhouette have irons. Bringing Irons onboard is banned on cruise ships because of the safety risks.

There aren’t any self-service laundries on Celebrity ships, so your only option is to pay to have your clothes laundered.

I tend to just hang my clothes up in the bathroom when I have a shower, and the steam usually makes the creases drop out. It’s magic! There are various wrinkle-release sprays you can buy too…

I see a lot of people make the mistake of trying to bring things onboard that aren’t allowed. Watch the video below to learn more:

    Celebrity Silhouette Cabins To Avoid

The following cabins to avoid were all suggested by guests who cruised on the Celebrity Silhouette.

I personally believe that there are no ‘bad’ cabins on cruise ships. Each cruise ship cabin is built in the same way, and are identical – only the location could be bad.

That said if you are sensitive to noise, the below cabins may be best avoided.

Cabins To Avoid On The Celebrity Silhouette

Celebrity Silhouette – Cabins to Avoid, Deck 12

Cabins towards the back of deck 12 are under the buffet.

Some cruisers staying in these cabins have reported noises of things like chairs being moved.

This shouldn’t be a big problem, as the buffet isn’t open late into the night but it may be something to bear in mind.

If you’re a cruiser who frequently visits the buffet like me, this might actually be a good thing!

celebrity silhouette cabins to avoid deck 12

Celebrity Silhouette – Cabins to Avoid, Deck 11

The cabins in the middle of deck 11 are located under the main pool deck.

This shouldn’t be a problem in the evenings as the pool is usually closed, but during the day you may hear some noise when sunloungers are moved around, particularly if you are on your balcony.

If there is a sailaway party and you are on your balcony, the sound here may travel.

I have stayed directly below the pool deck in locations like this before without any trouble, but I’m usually out and about during the day.

celebrity silhouette cabins to avoid deck 11

Celebrity Silhouette – Cabins to Avoid, Deck 6

Cabins at the front of deck 6 are located under the theatre.

If you like to go to bed early or have children, this may be a section of the ship to avoid, as sound sometimes does travel from the theatre shows.

I’m usually out in the evenings, so cabins in this type of location don’t worry me.
