Thank You! – Emma Cruises Weekly Newsletter

My goodness me, what a week it has been! I hope yours is going well. πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡±βš“οΈ

This week, my video about the time I spent in Sierra Leone onboard a floating hospital ship went live. πŸ˜‡β€οΈ

It was by far the most difficult video to make and edit, but I hope that I managed to put everything I’ve learnt over the last 8 years of YouTube-ing into it because it’s the most important video I’ve ever made. πŸ₯°πŸ™ŒπŸΌ

The picture below is of a fake plastic dummy, by the way, not a real person. I was in the simulation room of the hospital (this pretend model even winks)! πŸ€πŸ˜†

I want to say thank you SO MUCH, for your comments and for sharing the Mercy Ships story. πŸ™ŒπŸΌπŸŒŽ

A massive thank you to everybody who has donated. We’ve raised over 10k on the YouTube video itself, 7k on Just Giving and maybe another 20k from Captain Hudson V5 (I need to do the maths on that one!) The difference that’ll make is MIND BLOWING. 🐈😎

You can check that out here if you haven’t seen it already:

Scotland could once again become a major player in shipbuilding with the planned launch of Dark Island, a Β£1.2 billion residential cruise ship set to sail in 2028.

If successful, the project could create 3,000 jobs and bring large-scale cruise ship construction back to the Clyde, a river that once produced legendary ocean liners like the Queen Mary and QE2.

If you’ve been enjoying the Captain Hudson books on Amazon, could you pretty please leave a review? πŸ₯°πŸ™ŒπŸΌ

Reviews are so important on Amazon (and I love love love reading them). Thanks so much.

MONEY-SAVING CRUISE TIP OF THE WEEK:

Taking a European river cruise? You can bring drinks and snacks onto the ship, there are no bag searches like on ocean cruise lines (which makes getting on and off SO easy). πŸ˜‚β€οΈ

When I river cruise I often wander to somewhere like Lidl to pick up some chocolates and drinks. 😁πŸ₯³

If you are booking a cruise, you may see the term β€œGuaranteed Cabin” as an option when booking.

You may be wondering what this actually means, and is it something you should consider? In this article, we explore guaranteed cabins and look at examples of guaranteed cabins I have been allocated.

When you book your cruise, it is easy to think that everything will be included, but this is rarely the case – particularly when it comes to drinks.

You might have been reading about drinks packages, and be wondering whether you need to buy one. You could be thinking you might have no access to any free drinks when onboard.

You may have seen pictures of Cruise Ships and Ocean Liners in dry dock undergoing renovation, or being built in the shipyards. You may have wondered why they are painted a different colour – often red – below the water line.

There is a very important reason why they are painted differently below the waterline and I was lucky enough to go under one ship, the MSC Bellissima to find out.

If you are considering booking a cruise, you may be wondering which is better – an inside or outside cabin.

I’ve been on over seventy cruises to date and have cruised in various inside and outside (oceanview) cabins.

Another exciting thing happened this week and that is that we at The Cruise Maps have announced our partnership with Hurtigruten!

I’m very proud to be co-founder of this company and The Cruise Globe.

Hurtigruten maps are some of my favourites (they’re just so wiggly), and they look even cooler with the logo.

Code EMMACRUISES will get you 10% off these and every map (affiliate link).

Have a fantastic week,
