I have recently sailed onboard the Celebrity Infinity around the Greek Islands.
Celebrity Infinity is a relatively old ship, but the cruise fares to sail onboard her are far cheaper than on the more modern Celebrity “Edge” class ships.
As I had sailed on Celebrity Edge the year before, I wondered if I would find Celebrity Infinity a disappointment – but we had a wonderful cruise, and I enjoyed my time on her.
I booked a last-minute, relatively cheap deal to see what I thought of her.
She Is A “Millenium” Class Ship
Celebrity Infinity is one of Celebrity’s Millennium Class ships. She has three sister ships:
- Celebrity Constellation
- Celebrity Summit
- Celebrity Millennium
Millennium class are the smallest and oldest Celebrity ships, holding just over two thousand passengers each. These ships were built between 2000 and 2002.
I cruised on Celebrity’s newer ship, Celebrity Edge in 2023. She has a far more modern design and layout.

Oceanview Cabin Number 2065
My brother had an ocean-view stateroom, cabin number 2065 – way down on deck 2. This review is based on this cabin and his thoughts on it.
My brother was not sharing this cabin with anyone else. I had the choice of booking a single inside or ocean-view cabin for him. The price difference was around £150/$190 – which I didn’t think was too bad for an eleven-night cruise.
If you book a solo cabin on Celebrity Infinity, you are likely to get this type of cabin. There are no dedicated solo cabins on the ship.
All cabins have:
- A double bed that can be made into two twins
- A small chair/sofa
- A table
- A desk area and a chair.
- Mini Fridge
- Hairdryer
- A Safe
- Bedside table
- A TV
- Bathrobes
- Large round window with ocean views
- Wardrobe
Cabin Design
The cabin design, and the ship in general, was certainly dated, with lots of brown/wood effect panelling.
Everything worked as it should and wasn’t damaged or worn.
You could definitely tell that this was a ship from the year 2000 though.
Some of the public areas had been refurbished, and new carpets (or bits of new carpet added in) were in evidence on the stairs and some corridors. The cabins seem to have changed very little from the original 2000 design.
This cabin had a Pullman bed that could be pulled down from the ceiling, and a small sofa bed – so could sleep up to four passengers if necessary. It would be quite cramped though!
The Ocean View Window
The large, round window gave wonderful views of the ocean. Being down on deck 2, it was very close to the waterline when we were sailing.
The position of the bed was directly under the window, which meant you didn’t fully appreciate the ocean views, you weren’t sitting and looking out.
Not all cabins are laid out this way, some have the bed on the side wall, which would probably be better for views.
The room was very light and bright though, as the window was large.
The Bathroom
The bathroom was identical to that found in other cabin categories.
It had everything you would need, including a nightlight. There was a shower curtain rather than a shower screen, which is often the way on older ships.
It was clean and functional, if not of the most modern design.
The Location
He was surrounded by other cabins, there are no public areas down on deck 2. He sometimes heard people walking down the corridors outside his room but never heard any noise from outside the ship.
The cabin itself was warm and cosy, but the air conditioning didn’t work too well. It wasn’t hot when we sailed, and the air conditioning might have struggled a bit in warmer weather.
It was a comfortable, functional room.
The huge advantage of a ship of this size is you never have to climb too many stairs.
However, as he was way down on deck 2, it was quite a long way up to the buffet in the mornings – then he had to go all the way back down to deck 1 to disembark when in port. A great way of keeping fit!
The main dining room, theatre and cafe were on decks four and five. The buffet and pool were on deck 10.
What He Liked About The Ocean View Cabin 2065
- Great ocean views
- Quite a large cabin for one person
- Lots of storage space
- Four chocolates on the pillow every night!
- The rest of us only got one each – so clearly his cabin steward liked him!
What He Didn’t Like About The Ocean View Cabin 2065
- The curtains didn’t block the light out very well
- Not enough plug sockets
- No sockets by the bed, only by the desk
- Clingy Shower curtain
Would He Choose This Cabin Again?
Yes. This cabin had everything he needed, and he thought it was much better than an inside cabin.
He was disturbed by bright lights when the ship was docked. This was because the curtain wasn’t a blackout curtain.
His window was just above where people would be walking on the dockside, but he couldn’t hear any sounds from outside.
He could sometimes hear people walking past his cabin, but it wasn’t an issue.
Tea and Coffee making facilities weren’t provided, as on most American cruise lines. There was a kettle (but nothing else) tucked away in one of the cupboards.
Celebrity will provide a kettle and tea and coffee-making facilities if you ask the room steward. My parents did this.
Before You Go
Find out what I thought of my “infinite Veranda” balcony cabin on Celebrity Edge. It doesn’t have a conventional balcony like most ships, it has a large sliding window similar to a River Cruise Ship. Some people love it, and some hate it…
