Have Royal Caribbean sold any cruise ships in 2020?
Royal Caribbean have not sold any of the cruise ships from their current fleet in 2020. Royal Caribbean did take back two cruise ships from Pullmantur, MS Sovereign, and MS Horizon when the cruise line Pullmantur went bankrupt. Both ships were sold for scrap.
Grandeur of the Seas was meant to leave the fleet to go to Pullmantur but following the bankruptcy of Pullmantur this is no longer happening.
The MS Sovereign was built as Sovereign of the Seas way back in 1988. In 1990, Monarch joined, and then later in 1991, they were joined by Horizon.
It is a massive shame to send these cruise ships straight to the scrapyard, but I do understand why Royal Caribbean has made that decision.

Have Norwegian Cruise Line sold any cruise ships in 2020?
Norwegian cruise line have not sold any cruise ships in 2020 and at present, there are no confirmed intentions of the cruise line to sell any.
Norwegian Cruise Line has most of their ships made specifically for them. The exception to that rule is the Norwegian Spirit.
She is the oldest of the fleet, but she is my personal favorite. Norwegian just spent millions of dollars refitting her. So I don’t think that they’re going to want to get rid of her at the moment.
Have Costa sold any cruise ships in 2020?
In 2020 Costa cruise line sold the Costa Victoria and Costa NeoRomantica in 2020. The Costa Victoria, built-in 1996 has been sold for scrap and the Costa NeoRomantica has been sold to Celestyal Cruises and renamed Celestyal Experience.
The Costa Victoria was built in 1996 and she carried just over 2000 passengers. It’s not normal for a cruise ship built in 1996 to go to the scrapyard but 2020 hasn’t been a normal year.
Normally cruise ships that are made in the 90s have at least 10 or 20 years in them before for becoming scrapped and normally they’re passed down through different cruise lines.

Have P&O Cruises sold any cruise ships in 2020?
P&O cruises have sold their oldest cruise ship Oceana who was originally built for Princess Cruises. At present, there are no indications that P&O Cruises will sell any further ships.
The ship did undergo a massive refit in 2012, but even still looking at the P&O Cruises fleet, I can see why they wanted to move on.
They’re launching a new ship called Iona this year and are definitely moving towards bigger ships.

In 2020 Marella Cruises sold Marella Celebration. Marella Celebration was always meant to leave the fleet but he Coronavirus crisis simply increased the rate at which this has happened.

Have Holland America sold any cruise ships in 2020?
Holland America have sold Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Veendam and Maasdam. Amsterdam and Rotterdam are going to Fred Olsen cruise lines and Veendam and Maasdam are going to Seajets.
The four cruise ships that Holland America is selling, were all built between 1993 and 2000, not to be confused with older cruise ships with the same name. Holland America likes to reuse their names, just to make it very, very confusing!
